Art Imitates Iowa Politics - Prayer Booth Missing Credit Card Slot for Satan & Reed

Spike,

Dubuque Prayer Booth.jpg

Artist's Statement on Prayer Booth

"This piece plays on the format of the traditional public phone booth, but adds a spiritual element. It functions as a normal booth with a private enclosure, but adds a flip down kneeler for prayer."

Pray and pay. Welcome to the 2012 Iowa caucuses.

Iowa's ever more Political Action Cults (PAC)s...er, 501(c)4 organizations not organized for profit but operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare, need to buy a few of these. Add a night deposit slot just like at the bank. The heavens are the limit.

Tonight, when you give, we’re not a PAC and we’re not a candidate,” he said. “Therefore, there is no limit to what you give here tonight. Isn’t that exciting?” Ralph Reed should know better than any other mere mortal.

Order a portable version to set up at your candidate cattle calls, political candidates as speakers fund raising banquets, etc. What a wonderful innovation for maxed out campaign donors to still be heard.

Herd the cash to your group. If anybody complains, pray the Federal Elections Commission finds nothing wrong, nor your hard drive.

Pray and pay may make an Iowa winner think they are climbing up the golden stairs. Earth's ultimate power and glory is within their grasp.

On a cold as hell New Hampshire night, more than one candidate has discovered the price of selling their soul to Satan.

Stop Ad Vertising the Destruction of Capitalism

Spike,

"Is there morality in the climate of capitalism?"

The better question is can capitalism survive as it is constantly under attack. Do you wish to live under one world of Euroweenie Socialism? How can the little guy strike back.

A good way to cure the problem is for capitalists to stop advertising in the Ad Vertiser. Deny evil capital to the anti capitalist Ad Vertiser. Tell local merchants you may need to take your business elsewhere if the continue to support the Ad Vertiser. What of the big box stores?

Do not waste your breath on the local help. Write the President of the company. Send the C. E. O. Comrade Troute's tribute to Trotsky. Tell them what their advertising is supporting and suggest they advertise elsewhere.

One letter may not mean much. Many letters make a difference. Hit the Ad Vertiser where it counts, in their wallet. It is a lesson in capitalism even Mr. Troute will understand.

Bittersweet Buttress Demolished - Mayor, Ex-Mayor, Slagle to Blame?

Spike:

I wonder if any of your viewers know anything about who knocked down one of the two brick pillars marking the entrance to Bittersweet Place the street which runs down the West side of the Country Club.

The scuttlebutt going around is that a car hydroplaned and ran into it knocking it down.  Now if a car were going the speed limit I doubt it would have been going fast enough to hydroplane; so it really looks like a cover up or something to that effect by the local authorities and I don’t think anything was mentioned in the Hawk Eye, as usual.  I wonder if one of our more rich or famous citizens may have had a little too much alcohol or something to that effect, just wonder of course.

It happened about two weeks ago and is somewhat of a hush up by authorities and appears as a cover up that happens only to often in Burlington.

Wondering

I wonder if Slagle clipped it with the U-haul slithering out of town in the dark?

Illinois Designer License Plates

Spike,

"A federal jury today convicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich on 17 of 20 counts, finding he brazenly abused the powers of his office in a series of attempted shakedowns captured on undercover government recordings."

That great example of political ethics and morality just to our east never ceases to amaze. The old Illinois joke of, "Our governors make our license plates," is in fact an opportunity in waiting.

As a federal convict, Blago will probably be going to a federal facility. None the less, with mutual Cook County friends in the federal executive branch, arrangements could be made to send Blago where there is a sheet metal shop.

For an extra fee, Illinois residents could have their vanity plates signed by the former governor who formed them. A basket case of debt and welfare, Illinois could use some extra money.

Enough money would never be so raised to four lane US 34 from Gulfport to Monmouth. Besides, that route does run through Cook County. None the less, it is the thought that counts.

Troute Eats Sweet’s Brownies, Hallucinations Set In, Takes Trip & Never Leaves Desk

Rex Troute, the Ad Vertiser’s business writer, suggests in his Sunday column that capitalism is having a heyday in the world of “sex toys, surveillance equipment and assault rifles.”

Trying as hard as possible to garner any sense from this rambling theory based on Troute’s favorite Google searches and Mike Sweet’s brownies, one can dismiss this drivel after turning to the article on Boeing on page 5D and get a sense of the threat to real American capitalism, the European Union and its socialist ideas for a new world order with Airbus and our own government interfering with Boeing’s decision to build a plant in South Carolina. These are two major contradictions to Trout’s theory of prosperity.

If Troute can come up from inhaling his brownies long enough to do a 3-minute read of the article on page 5D he might begin to understand American capitalism and what happened last week at the Paris Air Show after Boeing felt the sales heat from Airbus.

As we all know Airbus is the largest nationalized manufacturer in the world. Every member country of the Airbus crime family has heavily subsidized Airbus with member governments’ money. It is no different than the Chinese or the local ethanol plant. It is a false positive. There is no real competition when the deck is loaded.

Coupled with this obstacle, the Obama administration has directed the National Labor Relations Board to sue Boeing for expanding its existing manufacturing capability in South Carolina. The crybaby IAM union is crying foul. Obama heard the cry for votes due to his lost popularity. Another illegal action by a communist president to topple capitalism as we know it (BTW - where is Sweet on the War Powers Act?).

I guess if you’re a provincial business writer in a dead horse town, prosperity might be measured in “sex toys, surveillance equipment and assault rifles.”

But it seems to me that it is awfully hard to gauge the health of capitalism by what’s new in “sex toys, KY jelly and Viagra.” We know he doesn’t own any surveillance equipment or assault rifles. It must be the sex toys he uses for an indicator.

Trout Canonizes Courtney – More Brownies, More Hallucinations

Tacit Approval of Lax Oversight

It seems Rex Trout must have eaten all the medicinal brownies. According to Sunday’s article in the Ad Vertiser Jerry Courtney, our nitwit state senator Tom Courtney’s brother has been asleep at the helm on the Iowa Department of Economic Development board during the following events and Trout missed the story.

1. The Iowa Values Fund blowout at Community Field the city taxpayers had to bail out.

2. Rampant, unchecked program fraud at the IDED Film Office (his Twiddle -Dee brother was staring out the window at the same time) while the oversight responsibility was being ignored.

3. Advocates the ethanol business; a short margin, heavily subsidized, tariff protected, mandated product originally to be used a fuel additive vs. a fuel source. Good business opportunity/recommendation for a financial planner.

4. Modestly describes the IDED Board as “"I think we are probably an exceptional board." Same Courtney family modesty.

5. Acknowledges he has personally benefited financially from his membership on the IDED Board with a “few new clients.” Maybe that’s how he missed the Film Office oversight.

I guess all this makes a great case for the rebuilding of the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

Doesn’t seem to be much else.

Burlington School Board Rewards Failure in Large Numbers

Spike:

I’d love to have a job where failure is rewarded by wage increases such as is done in the Burlington School District. The superintendent failed in her goals but still received a 2.8% wage increase. Only in government is failure rewarded and accountability ignored. Government run programs are the biggest failures attainable by man and the BSD proves this point beyond a doubt.

We also have the taxpayer paying more for kindergarten students than is charged by the University of Iowa for a year of college. Each student in the BSD is costing the taxpayer $15,200 for a failed education based on the ITBS test scores. Burlington only has slightly over 4000 students in government run schools but it has a budget of $63 million and basis rewards on failure by obtaining only one out of 12 goals set by itself. In other words the failure rate by the BSD was approximately 92% of the twelve goals it set for the district; so it’s costing the Burlington taxpayer about 70% more than it would if their child were sent to private school where government is held at bay and failure is not an awardable goal.

"Burlington Schools Put the 'BS' in ITBS Scores*"

"We set clear goals and expectations for Jane and she hit those goals"

Get the Deal Done and Then Come Clean

The Burlington School system got their report card for the Iowa Test of Basic Skills or ITBS. All scores declined except 11th grade students which showed a very slight increase.

Fresh from a pay raise earlier this week, the overpaid school superintendent Jane Evans said the test results were due to a new testing date even though Evans hit her goals.

Maybe if these pay raises were directly tied to a teacher performance evaluation based on ITBS the test results might be even better.

But I'm sure the retired teachers on the school board wouldn't think of anything like that. They wouldn't want the achievement levels too high. It might single out one teacher doing a better job from that of a slacker. Not to suggest that all teachers aren't equal......

from the Director's mouth -

"We revamped the whole story, the whole bad-guy arc. To me, there always needs to be a logic to our movies. No matter what subject matter it is, they have to be logical for the world we’re creating. I kept thinking about, “OK. A spy movie in the world where cars are alive. What would be a really good kind of über bad guy? Who is an über bad guy?” I kept going to big oil. This is before what happened in the Gulf of Mexico.

Why isn’t alternative fuel more… Why isn’t everybody jumping on that bandwagon? It makes so much sense: Electricity, solar, whatever. There’s ethanol. There’s all this stuff you could be doing. And so I thought, well, that could be really cool in that you could have big oil versus alternative fuel. That’s when we kind of crafted the bad guy’s story."

CBO Issues Ominous Report on Debt: Could be on Verge of ‘Sudden Fiscal Crisis’

"A new report says that the national debt is on pace to equal the annual size of the economy within a decade, levels that could provoke a European-style debt crisis unless policymakers in Washington can slam the brakes on spiraling deficits.

The Congressional Budget Office study released Wednesday offers a fresh reminder of what’s at stake in ongoing talks led by Vice President Joe Biden that are aimed at slashing more than $2 trillion from the federal deficit over the coming decade as the price for permitting the government to take on more debt to pay current obligations.

CBO says the nation’s rapidly growing debt burden increases the probability of a fiscal crisis in which investors lose faith in U.S. bonds and force policymakers to make drastic spending cuts or tax hikes.

“As Congress debates the president’s request for an increase in the statutory debt ceiling, the CBO warns of a more ominous credit cliff – a sudden drop-off in our ability to borrow imposed by credit markets in a state of panic,” said House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis."

The Economy Is Worse Than You Think

"Expect more bad news until someone enacts a plan to bring deficits under control without raising taxes"

"The administration's most obvious failure was its misguided fiscal policies: the cash-for-clunkers subsidy for car buyers, the tax credit for first-time home buyers, and the $830 billion "stimulus" package.

...A second cause of the continued economic weakness is the president's emphasis on increasing tax rates.

...A third problem stems from the administration's lack of an explicit plan to deal with future budget deficits and with the exploding national debt.

...Finally, there is the administration's incoherent position on the international value of the dollar.

...The economy will continue to suffer until there is a coherent and favorable economic policy.

...All of these things are doable. But the Obama administration has not done them and shows no inclination to do them in the future."

Eventually the police did pick up the stores surveillance video but the Hawk Eye has never published anything about this group robbery. Art Fair Behavior Instilled by Mayor's Laziness at Beer Tent

Spike:

On Sunday I took a stroll down to the Art Fair on Sixth Street and was amazed at all the parking violations with no police around to enforce the city parking codes. There were cars blocking fire hydrants, alleys, crosswalks and protruding out into street driving lanes.

I find this not unusual for Burlington because it basically goes on all year long during garage sales and home content sales. Parking rules never apply during these events and the police drive around as though they were blind. I saw police drive right by cars parked in front of fire hydrants and instances of all the different types of violations with no attempt to ticket the offenders.

Speeders are out of control on Burlington’s streets with people driving 35 to 40 in housing zones where children are riding bikes and running around the neighborhoods. Summer Street at times is full of speeders and they even pass those going the speed limit in excess of 40 mph. Central Avenue towards the new bridge is another uncontrolled speed area where any speed is okay, if you’re in a hurry.

All I can say is the city is losing plenty of fine money by not enforcing speeding and parking laws and it’s hard to understand the city lack of enforcement. Another minor problem is people walking down the middle of the streets on a regular basis and its normally the new citizens who fail to use sidewalks. Why do they think the street is the place to walk rather than the sidewalks? I think we need a fine for walking in the streets rather than sidewalks when available.

One child got hit by a school and now we have to drive 20 mph during the school hours even when kids are within fenced in areas or not even outside when the signs should read, “when children are present” rather than stifling traffic all school day long. I suspect being reasonable is just too much to ask here in Burlington although common sense works fine in other cities.

It seems to me Burlington is its own worst enemy when it comes to wasting money by not enforcing codes already on the books and compensating for it by constantly raising taxes on the home owner.

KOA

When Lost Keys Mayor Bill Ell has to park as close as possible to the Beer Tent at Steamboat Days how can it provoke any other behavior than, "me too!"

Library Indicative of Political Stranglehold by Few

Spike:

Yesterday something crossed my mind and I wanted to run down to the Burlington Library and get a book on the subject before it slipped my mind. However, although the taxpayers in Burlington pay the highest rates for library service, in one of the poorest sections of the state our library does not open on Sunday’s although those paying half the price for library service, in many other Iowa cities have Sunday service for about eight or nine months per year.

Many libraries in Eastern Iowa have Sunday service during the months of October through April while we in Burlington get no Sunday hours. How is it that the taxpayer in Burlington pays the highest rates in Iowa for a library and we only get six days of service versus seven for those paying about half our cost? Why is Burlington always one of the highest taxed cities in Iowa while at the same time receiving far less in city services? Could it be we have grossly overpaid public servants along with grossly inflated prices for the services provided by our local one party government?

Burlington has deep rooted problems with its local government that knows no bounds when it comes to wages and benefits for its public servants while at the same time robbing it’s fewer and fewer taxpayers to support the so called “Privileged Class” government employees. There are no checks and balances in Burlington government as long as there’s nothing but a one party government and until the public wakes up and votes accordingly nothing but misery is in store for the taxpayer of Burlington.

Flight of the Loons

Spike,

"Harkin added that he suspects, based on the hard line of attack launched by Boeing officials, certain individuals in South Carolina and the right-wing of the Republican Party, that Boeing “must be afraid” there is enough evidence to prove the company retaliated against workers for exercising their legal right to strike.....

“I will be participating in that hearing and I will be asking some very tough questions of the committee chair, Mr. Issa, about the role of his committee interfering in a pending adjudicative procedure,” Braley said....."

Iowa's Red Baron in the U. S. Senate is diving on Boeing.

Boeing is making a strategic maneuver to the South Carolina front. Boeing is an important ally in the war to maintain America's aerospace industry supremacy. While enemies in Europe and China make gains, Senator Top Gun Tommy is attacking Boeing's ability to maneuver on the battle field.

Wing man and fellow Iowa liberal Bruce Braley is covering the Red Baron in the U. S. House. Congressman Braley is reportedly being considered by the party's general staff to replace the Red Baron when he flies his last sortie.

What of our hero in Iowa's liberal congressional flying circus? Congressman Loonsack is not mentioned in the Battle of Boeing dispatch. The party general staff reportedly believes the Nutty Professor lacks the right stuff to be an ace.

Senate Votes to End Corn Ethanol Subsidy

"The Senate voted overwhelmingly to abolish the 30-year-old subsidy for corn ethanol, a stunning, bipartisan rebuke to an industry whose once-legendary political clout has given way to concerns about the federal deficit and rising food costs.

The 73-27 vote was largely symbolic because the vote came on a bill that is unlikely to become law.

But even supporters in the industry conceded that the existing subsidy is doomed
."

It's about time. A business model based on short spread margins from government subsidies and government mandates is bad business.

But the taxpayers of Des Moines County already know that. A wise old sage once said, "Des Moines County will never see any meaningful tax revenue from the ethanol plant."

"Union Owned and Operated - Democratic fealty to unions subverts and circumvents the popular will"

"Of course, unions need Democrats — who deliver quite faithfully. In last year’s nationwide “shellacking” of Democrats, for example, Wisconsin gave Republicans control of both legislative chambers and elected a Republican governor who made clear his intention to rein in public-sector union power.

When the Republicans tried to do as promised, Democrats, lacking the votes, tried to block it by every extra-parliamentary maneuver short of arson. State Senate Democrats fled Wisconsin to prevent a quorum. Demonstrators filled the statehouse for days and nights on end. And when the bill finally passed nonetheless, Dane County’s Democratic district attorney went to court to have it thrown out on procedural grounds.

They found a pliant judge to invalidate the law. A famous victory, but short-lived. On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned the ruling, upbraiding the judge for having “usurped the legislative power which the Wisconsin Constitution grants exclusively to the Legislature.” The law is reinstated.

Instructive cases all, demonstrating how those who lose popular support — Democrats at the polls, unions in their declining membership — can subvert and circumvent the popular will by judicial usurpation (Wisconsin) or administrative fiat (Boeing).

The Wisconsin maneuver ultimately failed, as likely will the assault on Boeing. In the interim, however, there is collateral damage — to U.S. exports, to the larger economy, to bankruptcy law, to free trade, to a constitutional system wherein the legislatures make the laws, rather than willful judges and partisan regulators.

But what are those when there are unions to appease and elections to win?"

I guess more trips to Aspen Grove for Courtney and the rest of the thievin' criminals.

A Crime in Rhyme

Poet PAC Extorting American Farmers & Poet Knows It

Spike,

"POET Political Action Committee (PAC) is a political action committee that is sponsored by POET, LLC. POET, the largest ethanol producer in the world, is an established leader in the biorefining industry. The 20-year-old company currently produces over 1.5 billion gallons of ethanol each year."

Ethanol is subsidized blight. The product cannot stand on its own without government assistance. Besides covering ethanol's tax breaks, we pay more at the grocery store as grain is diverted to ethanol.

"POET PAC, the company’s political action committee, plans to establish a program called the “POET PAC Cultivator Club” to ease the ability of farmers to contribute to the company’s campaign spending by deducting a portion of the money the POET plants owe per bushel of corn."

POET PAC has a new wrinkle to keep wringing money out of American taxpayers. While POETS executives give at the office, farmers can give at the elevator. Keep planting the green seeds in D. C. that produce a bounty of subsidies.

Ethanol is unsustainable. A recent bill in the U S Senate to wean the Midwest off the subsidies failed by a narrow margin. The longer this keeps going, the worse the crash will be. It will be especially hard on political subdivisions that foolishly have invested in ethanol plants.

We all will suffer the actions of fools we elected to lead us.

Ethel Maze

Things may change this afternoon. If not, things are going to change. American farmers need to feed the world and let the chemists devise the gasoline additives.

China Piracy Costs Almost a Million U.S. Jobs

U.S. International Trade Commission surveyed U.S. businesses and estimated that they lost some $48 billion in 2009 due to infringement of intellectual property rights by China

"U.S. firms could support nearly one million more jobs if China stopped intellectual property violations, a study said on May 18, leading U.S. lawmakers to call for a tough line with Beijing.

In a report requested by senators, the U.S. International Trade Commission surveyed U.S. businesses and estimated that they lost some $48 billion in 2009 due to infringement of intellectual property rights by China.

If China raised its enforcement to U.S. levels, the companies could increase employment at home by 923,000 jobs, the survey said. However, the figure includes hiring from other companies, not just new jobs in the sector."

“Given the mission you have ordered to the U.S. Armed Forces with respect to Libya and the text of the War Powers Resolution, the House is left to conclude that you have made one of two determinations: either you have concluded the War Powers Resolution does not apply to the mission in Libya or you have determined the War Powers Resolution is contrary to the Constitution,” Boehner wrote. “The House and the American people whom we represent deserve to know the determination you have made.”

‘Shovel-Ready Was Not as Shovel-Ready as We Expected’

Obama Cracks Jobs Joke

Spike:

"It was explained to Obama that the permitting process can delay projects for “months to years … and in many cases even cause projects to be abandoned … I’m sure that when you implemented the Recovery Act your staff briefed you on many of these challenges.” At this point, Obama smiled and interjected, “Shovel-ready was not as … uh .. shovel-ready as we expected.”

After Obama spent our grandchildrens' inheritance this is the best he can do?

Say no when Obama shovels more sh** in 2012.

Honesty & Objectivity MIA On South Main

Spike:

On the 10th there was a opinion piece in the Hawk Eye written by a Jalene Jameson an unknown, opinionated woman, apparently a left-wing radical who did her best to bedevil several recent men who cheated on their wives such as Edwards, Weiner and Schwarzenegger. Towards the end of the spew she mentions some mistake of facts Sarah Palin made concerning Paul Reverie. As if Obama has made no mistakes when his teleprompters failed on several occasions and he stood there dumbfounded about what to say and lest we forget his reference to the 54 states on one occasion; so when it comes to foul-ups let us not give Obama any more freebies, after two and a half years his freebies have run out.

What concerns me most is Ms. Jameson has never, to my opinion mentioned the horrible mess Obama has drawn our country into with his totally worthless and incompetent administration. This administration has failed in every attempt to wake up the economy because it has no idea how the American economy works. With all Obama’s czars and backdoor appointees this administration just hasn’t a clue and must be the dumbest administration to ever occupy the White House.

I really think the left leaning mindless crowd fear Sarah Palin because she has all the talent that Obama just never possessed because of his socialist circle of educational training and radical communist thinkers that reminds one of the old Soviet Union and their constant economic and social failures that eventually destroyed communist Russia. Sarah Palin actually had management experience along with government experience as an chief executive of the great State of Alaska. Obama on the other hand had only block organizer’s credentials and a couple of years as a do nothing senator in Washington. Obama is a person of very limited management experience, if any with no experience at doing much but sucking up to the unions because of their socialist one size fits all way of thinking.

The Hawk Eye, as the NY Times and Washington Post are nothing more than a source for paper consumed in the outhouses of the world. These papers and many others print their rags to the company left wing agenda regardless of what’s true and/or honest. They pick on Sarah Palin and even her children because they have no morals other than the socialist agenda which in itself has no moral ground to stand on. Liberalism is the scourge of the American way of life and these anus wipe newspapers are trying to bring our great America to an end with their lies and promotion of immoral godless lifestyles through mandates and backdoor politics.

It would appear that the Hawk Eye has filled its editorial staff with a nest of left wing radical socialist leaning misfits that will further decrease the readership and prove the bad vibes it promotes here in Burlington and Southeastern Iowa as stated in at least one $100,000 report paid for by the taxpayers several years ago which pointed out the Hawk Eye as one of Southeast Iowa’s major problems.

Journalism of today has no resemblance of honesty or objectivity that prevailed in the days of Edward R. Morrow and others that have long gone leaving America with a substandard mess of agenda driven crap dictated by the likes of George Soros and other misguided arrogant money men.

Obama Admits: Sometimes I Think ‘One Term is Enough’

Reality Into Truth - Obama is Goin' Home to The Porch

Spike:

"Asked about his family’s reaction to his wanting another term, Obama said: “Michelle and the kids are wonderful in that if I said, `You know, guys, I want to do something different,‘ They’d be fine. They’re not invested in daddy being president or my husband being president.”

He also said “there are days where I say that one term is enough

I don't think there is anyone that believes Obama will go quietly to the porch.

They Own the Keys to Your Castle - What Will It Cost?

Spike,

Cedar Falls, Iowa is facing opposition to making privately owned apartment buildings open to government any time government desires. Private property owners are forced to literally give the city the keys to their property. The ordinance is aimed at giving the Fire Department quick access to apartment buildings.

"Resident Carol Hanson wanted to know if the city had thought out potential for abuses of the system.

"Who will be liable? What if the key is stolen? What happens if someone is murdered or raped?" asked Carol Hanson."

Carol Hanson asked an excellent question. What was the final cost to replace all the locks at local school buildings? Perhaps the Mayor of Burlington could answer that one.

Government intrusion just keeps growing. After the keys, it will not be long until they install surveillance cameras in every location public and private. Roll over darlin' and smile at Big Brother.

Mike Sweet Touts Weiner Trouble

Republicans Did It

Spike:

Mike had a bit about Weiner in his editorial yesterday morning and of course he had to drag in the Republicans although this shameful story had nothing to do with the Republicans but Mike has no conscience when it comes to fair play and politics. This guy Weiner is a scumbag loser from a state that has more than its fair share of crooked lying politicians, i.e. Rangel, Spitzer and Schumer.

Weiner called Bill Clinton to apologize as though Clinton were some kind of role model after all the lies he told during his administration and the sexual affair he had with a young intern named Monica. Of course Mike more than likely idolizes Bill Clinton as does Weiner because that’s the type of politician Democrats look up to regardless of their proven records of lying and unfaithfulness while in office.

Mike is a left-winded liberal and that’s just the way he is and nothing will ever change his warped political beliefs. He has no conscience when it comes to what he writes in his editorials and will cut to the bone but when it’s a Democrat he’ll sugar coat the story and try to blame something or someone else for the problem.

The Hawk Eye and Mike are two of the reasons Burlington will never crawl out from under the destruction of Democratic leadership. Just look around at what has happened to Burlington since we’ve been under this Democratic scourge of recent years.

The president himself is as messed up as the local Democrats and their policies, destroying our country right before our eyes because he has no concept of economics nor do any of his czars or other backdoor book worms in his administration.

Mike and the Hawk Eye editorial staff will always follow the left agenda because they’ve been brained washed by their mentors to think only left regardless of the truth.

The Book of Exodus

Skips Hell for New Hampshire

Romney Decides Better to Not Visit Money Laundering Crime Scene

Spike,

"Mitt Romney will skip a key early test for Republican presidential candidates by forgoing the Iowa straw poll in mid-August, a decision that could recast the contest in the nation's first presidential nominating state."

"Mr. Romney won the Iowa straw poll during his first campaign four years ago after spending $2.5 million to rent space in Ames from the state party, bus supporters there from around the state, pay their $35 entrance fee and feed them throughout the day. But he finished second behind Mike Huckabee in the Iowa caucuses five months later and fell short in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination."

Like any wise businessman, Mitt Romney does not make the same mistake twice. Breaking the story in the Wall Street Journal, rather than the Des Moines Register, shows Mitt is making his pitch to the nation. The message, I am not selling my soul to the greedy, social issue devils controlling the Republican Party of Iowa.

Pandering to disciples of Satan who will empty their pews onto Ames bound church buses is not a good long term investment. Will anybody pick up $2.5 million worth of real estate to benefit the Republican Party of Iowa? As the money dries up, what cause will be most dear to Iowa's Republican National Committeeman/Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition leader. Should candidate blessings flow to party, or his salary providing PAC?

Republican presidential candidates are staging an exodus due to faith based greed. If Iowa is to retain its relevance to the presidential selection process, the cult of the golden calf must be slaughtered.

Chicago Thugs Arrested - 3 charged with robbing 2 on CTA bus

Spike,

"Three people were arrested and charged with a robbery that occurred earlier this week on a CTA bus on the Near West Side, police said tonight.

The robbery occurred on June 5, against two victims who suffered minor injuries in the attack, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer VeeJay Zala.

The attack happened on the 1300 block of West Roosevelt Road in the Little Italy neighborhood at about 1:05 a.m., and the suspects were arrested after police saw video footage from the bus, police said.

Akeem J. Manago, 18, of the 1200 block of West 14th Street was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, felony armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon, all of which are felonies, police said. He also was charged with misdemeanor counts of having a firearm and ammunition without a Firearm Owner's Identification Card.

Also arrested was Christopher Jackson, 17, who was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery in a public place, both felonies, police said."

I see it only took Chicago Police 4 days to start making arrests after Chicago police reviewed the bus' surveillance tape. Chicago's mayor told the police department to make this a priority after the Northwestern mob action on Saturday night.

Imagine if only our police department would take such quick action before the South Hill criminals get back on the bus to Chicago. They might even make an arrest.

Weiner - The Face of the Modern Left - Pixie Dust & All

Spike:

"In his combination of unctuousness, mendacity, mock-reasonableness, petulance, bullying, hypocrisy, overweening arrogance, brazen aggression, self-pity, victimhood, and bogus moral preening, it’s hard to beat Congressman Anthony Weiner. He’s the perfect face of the modern American Left in all its glorious pathology; why anyone takes these people seriously is utterly beyond me, so transparent are they. And yet for some, their sweet nothings continue to resonate.

... ”This is an unlovely party filled with unlovely people, as America’s about to find out once the Obama pixie dust wears off.”

Never before have I seen such a problem as rotten Democrats. And the stench of that rot extends right to Des Moines County. Never forget the lies verbalized and perpetrated by Courtney, Heland, Hoschek, Edwards, King, Scott, Davidson, Anderson, Slagle, Power, Worden, Tapp, Hinkle; the list is endless. This is the face of the modern left.

U.S. debt default unimaginable, Creditors Say

Spike,

(Reuters) - Allowing a brief U.S. debt default to force government spending cuts is a "horrible idea" that could destabilize the world economy and sour already tense relations with big creditors like China, government officials and investors said on Wednesday.

A growing number of Republican lawmakers think a technical debt default might be a price worth paying if it gets the White House to accept deep spending cuts. This idea, once confined to the party's fringe, is seeping into the mainstream, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

"How can the U.S. be allowed to default?" said an official at India's central bank. "We don't think this is a possibility because this could then create huge panic globally."

If the Republicans let this happen, you better have your gold out of the safety deposit box.

Gang of South Hill Thieves Ignored by The Hawk Eye

Who's Doing This Investigation?

"..how long can the Hawk Eye continue publishing based on an agenda rather than news based on truth?"

Spike:

It seems the Hawk Eye would rather remain silent about the Gas Land store on Summer Street that was robbed of goods including beer on the night of June 1, 2011 around 11:00PM by a gang of young minorities. These losers swarmed the store and stole all kinds of stuff like junk food and beer that would fit in their pockets and about all the clerk could do was call police who in turn took so long to arrive at the store the ten to twelve thieves were long gone. As of this Saturday the police haven’t had the time to pick up the video of the swarm or perform any form of investigation as the trail now becomes a frozen potholed dead end.

I find it impossible to believe there were no patrol cars anywhere in the South Hill area that one couldn’t have made the trip in less than five minutes. I’m sure the police would have some sort of excuse for not showing up in time to catch anyone but it just goes to show again what SEIRP and other do-gooders forced upon the citizens of Burlington by volunteering Burlington to be the surrogate home for employees of Tyson Foods up in Columbus Junction, a deal Muscatine declined to accept.

The news around town is that many of the Out-of-Towner’s have begun to leave Burlington since they’ve found out working for a living just isn’t what they were looking for and since there aren’t any jobs in Burlington paying a livable wage some have hit the road back to wherever they came from. Even with subsidized busing to and from the Tyson plant along with the slum housing that was provided here in Burlington there just wasn’t enough to hold them here or at Tyson. I guess that’s why the subsidized busing is now gone as have so many other former Burlington schemes to get rich quick perpetrated by the do-gooder crowd who live the good life off tax exempt status and the taxpayer.

The Hawk Eye does not provide the kind of service a real newspaper should provide because they censor the local news along with providing the national liberal agenda type of trash that is slowly destroying our country. Just look around at what liberalism has done to our country over the past few decades with the failing schools, corrupt politics, corrupt government, the gay agenda where like sexes can marry as though it’s normal behavior, welfare and religion along with just about everything that America stood for has been slowly eaten away by liberalism.

One or more of the $100,000 dollar reports the city commissioned to find out what the problems were with Burlington always pointed to the Hawk Eye as one of the biggest problems for why Burlington just couldn’t cut the mustard economically, socially and politically. A newspaper with a liberal agenda is no more successful than trying to pour molasses in January. Printed news is finally going the way of the horse and buggy; so I guess the real question is how long can the Hawk Eye continue publishing based on an agenda rather than news based on truth.

Disillusioned by Burlington

Delaney tells everyone the Ad Vertiser is a private business, they have no obligation to tell the truth; their mission is to sell that rag they call a newspaper. And, as you so clearly reminded us all, trained professionals recognize if the Ad Vertiser was a newspaper and had the community's interests somewhere in their business model, things would be different instead of the left-wing nut job, Kansas carpet baggin' bunch of hypocrites they really are.

Just a Closer Walk With Thee

Spike,

"Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Gov. Tim Pawlenty are among a long list of presidential hopefuls attending the Faith & Freedom Conference and Strategy Briefing this weekend in Washington, D.C."

"Newly released information from Public Policy Polling shows that Iowans have had a “dramatic shift” toward President Barack Obama, and that he now leads potential opponents by at least nine and up to 21 points in the Hawkeye state."

Cause and effect. There is hell to pay not just in Iowa, but in D. C. and across the nation.

The Most Unholy Ralph Reed has convened a College of Cardinals of the Collection Plate. Many are coming to kiss Ralph's ring. It is most interesting to scan the list of speakers at this event.

Notice the many seeking an Iowa Caucus victory and per chance Reed's unholy blessing. Iowa's Republican National Committeeman and Iowa Faith & Freedom Capo, Steve Scheffler, is scheduled to speak. The name of one old disciple is absent.

Unlike Iowa's Republican National Committeeman, Casino Jack Abramoff is no longer in business with Ralph Reed. Casino Jack has gotten into a more honest line of work. Maybe some of the old gang can buzz up to Baltimore from D. C. and share a pizza. That is, if nobody is watching.

"He (Ralph Reed) is a bad version of us! No more money for him," Michael Scanlon. While Reed walked away, Casino Jack's partner Michael Scanlon also did time in a federal pen. It is a crime that decent people seeking the presidency are compelled to take too, a close walk with Reed.

Iowa is a primary (caucus) reason for candidates taking this walk with sleaze. Many candidates are doing a cakewalk around Iowa to avoid being burned by Satan's fire.

The people of Iowa are not innocent in all this. Iowans have permitted priests of the golden calf to take over a major political party in their state.

These false prophets seeking personal profit must be driven into the wilderness. If not, Iowa will be driven forever back into the national wilderness from which it emerged 40 years ago.

Gasland Hit By Mob of Brian Tapp Spawned South Hill Punk Thieves

Spike:

Last night June 1st a group of minority teenagers swarmed the Gas Land store on Summer Street stealing beer and any other goods they could get their hands on around 11:00 PM. There were estimated to be in excess of ten of them that entered the store overwhelming the clerk who could not monitor the entire group.

The clerk called the police just after the group entered the store but the Burlington Police took too long to arrive and which allowed the thieves to get away with their pockets full of stolen goods including beer.

This is just another example of how out-of-control life really is here in Burlington where multiple people can enter a store and steal whatever they want and just get away with it. Although the entire episode was filmed none of the culprits will probably ever be brought to trial.

Being the surrogate for Columbus Junction’s Tyson Foods had provided nothing but problems for Burlington who opted to be the surrogate after Muscatine turned down the stupid idea. Of course the Hawk Eye had printed in the past that Burlington needed the workers although there were no jobs to be had in Burlington that even paid a living wage. The paper was covering up for SEIRP and others that dreamed up the loser idea of making Burlington the surrogate for a spot in the road town 50 miles away.

Can anyone think of one thing that Burlington has done recently to entice good jobs to town? Now can anyone think of anything Burlington has done to entice the wrong crowd to Burlington? I think we all know the answer to both questions with the first being no and the second being yes.

Welfare Abuse

Spike:

Yesterday while waiting to pay at a Gas Land a young woman was paying for a bag of candy and other junk food with her taxpayer funded Iowa card. She then bought two packs of cigarettes for which she paid cash but what really caught my eye was the $100 dollar bill she pulled out of her purse to top off the cigarette purchase. Just guessing I would say at least 70% of Gas Land’s business is transacted by people using an Iowa welfare card which says a lot about Burlington.

Burlington is overrun with people living off the labor of others as though it’s their right thanks to Obama who thinks transferring wealth from those that work for a living to those who just take up space is the way America should be where government takes from the producers and gives it to those who just take up space.

Iowa's Republican National Committeewoman Invokes Divine Judgement

Spike,

"I'm not your judge---Jesus is, but we are all expected to do what is right."

A former Republican Iowa State Senator is facing terrible judgment. Jeff Angelo says no to outlawing homosexual civil marriage. Doth hell's fires await him?

If Jesus is unavailable for immediate sentencing, Iowa's Republican National Committeewoman always is. Kim Lehman will invoke the realm of theological judgement into politics right up the Oval Office.

Since Ms. Lehman became Iowa's Republican National Committeewoman in 2008, she has been a hangin' judge. Her first ruling against involved an honorable Republican candidate offering salvation from Congressman Loonsack.

“We were really upset with the fact that she took a negative approach with a party candidate, and we thought that she had her own agenda that she was driving,” Gaeta said"

Questions about bearing false witness and conflict of interest be damned. Providence, not payroll provider, shall provideth the path of righteousness judgment.

E. T. Phone Southeast Iowa

Spike,

"Iowa caucus goers expect to see candidates in person, often multiple times, to size up their presidential mettle. Past candidates have not done well in the caucuses without investing substantial time in the state. The map shows candidate events."

The 2012 crop of presidential candidates have been sighted in Iowa. Their sightings are being tracked by a real newspaper, not the Ad Vertiser.. A close encounter of the 3rd kind with aliens was reported near Roswell, NM in 1948. Close encounters of the 3rd kind with presidential candidates in Burlington were not uncommon in 2008.

That is no longer the case.

According to the Register's map as of this date, there has not been a potential Republican president sighting within 50 miles of Burlington. Burlington has suffered decades of single party control by socialists. Burlington is a photo op back drop for decades of socialist control decay. Burlington is America in another decade if socialists continue to control America.

Why are the presidents not here? Are the natives hostile? What are they afraid of?

Volts for Votes

Spike,

“The process of titling the Volts technically makes the dealerships the first owners of the vehicles, which gives them the ability to claim the subsidies. The cars are then offered to retail customers as ‘used’ vehicles."

General Motors became Government Motors at the taxpayers' expense. Is this tax break scam really necessary to shore up dealership support for the Democrats in 2012?

Fix It Up Or Tear It Down

Code Enforcement Could Impact Tapp & Hunkle's Economic Development Blunder

Spike,

"I know politically it's not popular, but I think we're going to have to look once again at a landlord ordinance and get on these people to clean their properties up and look at some stuff in terms of law enforcement," Murray said during a council meeting. "We need to talk about it as a council and as a community."

Councilman Murray is right. A good place to start would be the old J. C. Penney store downtown. Somebody could be killed downtown when a decades neglected window falls several stories to the street below. Bill Ell retiring is no loss.

Tapp and Hinkle's magical misery bus from Chicago has been no cure for decay. For those who came to steal and collect welfare rather than work, the bus runs both ways. Proactive law enforcement may well help hasten their decision.

There is no need for a development director to chase government grants to build new slums. Take care of the basics. Keep it in repair, clean and cut your grass. See what happens from there.

You never know. Trimming out the rot and decay may cause new growth to appear.

Iowa's Uncivil War of the Holy

Spike,

Get a look at this interesting post by a former conservative talk show host in Des Moines.

It appears there collection plate envy. Do you know where there is a job paying $500 a day to drive around Iowa? Thou shall not covet.

All this fighting among the faithful. How is a Republican presidential candidate supposed to know on whose side is the almighty? What a devil of a dilemma to face in Iowa.

Could this be a reason all those who would be president are avoiding Iowa?

Trump - The Whale That Got Away From Satan

Spike,

"There is a nascent and growing curiosity in the faith community about Trump. Evangelicals will like his pro-life and pro-marriage stances, combined with his business record and high-wattage celebrity all but guarantee he will get a close look from social conservatives as well as other Republican primary voters." Ralph Reed

Donald Trump is not coming to Iowa. Mr. Trump jumped from the race. Will they miss the man, or his millions?

GH

It's all about the money if Ralph Reed and Steve Scheffler have anything to say.

The 4 M's - Manor Mall of Mexico Missouri

Spike,

How long will it be until Mexico, MO has its own vacant lot mall? Will Mexico have somebody build on their vacant lot before Burlington does?

Slip Slidin' Away With Bruce

Spike,

Mexico, MO is smaller than Burlington. Like Burlington, the area is not growing. When Slagle takes the reins, do you think Mexico, MO could beat Burlington in population loss by percentage?

Dee Klein

The local taxpayers will definitely incur a greater loss as a percentage of their former net worth.

So Goes Iowa - Who Gives a Damn

Spike,

"Politically speaking, this state is in something of an existential crisis.

For the past nine presidential elections, Iowa has reveled in the attention it gets with its position at the front of the presidential nominating contest. This time around, the question is not just who will win the Iowa caucuses but also whether it will matter."

You have warned about greedy devils claiming their cause is holy. It seems the rest of the country is catching the wave. Worshiping false prophets handling snakes has bitten Iowa with the back of the hand.

It appears others have been reading you. One of the commentators below the article references your flow chart of the root of all evil that flows through those who done such evil to Iowa. Are enough people paying attention?

Unless a majority of the honest and sane show up for the Republican caucuses next year and drive out the devils, this could be Iowa's last huzzah.

Tammy Faye

If our traffic numbers are an indication, people have found the Root of Evil.
