Farm Where Braley "Bailed" Hay / "Detassling" Corn

Braley's Farm Cred Hits Zero! Three Strikes - You're Outta There

"The Braley campaign misspelled a couple of basic Iowa-farm-related words – detasseling and baling – in its press release defending the U.S. Senate candidate’s street cred with farms and farmers.

A sharp-eyed Des Moines Register editor noticed that the news release said: “Bruce grew up in rural Iowa and worked on Iowa farms, detassling corn and bailing hay.”"

Braley's farm cred was in trouble long before this latest boondoggle.

This photo ran in 2013 on Bruce Braley's website touting the importance of Iowa's farms. Trouble is the photo shows a farm in England.

Grassley Responds to the Ambulance Chaser

"A Grassley spokesperson told TheIowaRepublican.com, “By the logic expressed on this recording a trial lawyer shouldn’t be involved in policy making about agriculture, or energy, or health care.”

The aide went on to say, “Sen. Grassley has served on the Judiciary Committee since he was first elected to the Senate, and he’s got a strong record on the committee. Grassley-authored amendments to the False Claims Act have recovered nearly $40 billion for taxpayers that would otherwise be lost to fraud. He’s the co-author of laws to curb class-action lawsuit abuse and to reform the bankruptcy code. Sen. Grassley is unmatched in his legislative and oversight work to protect whistleblowers, both in and out of government, who speak up about wrong-doing for the public good. He coauthored the Whistleblower Protection Act and numerous updates to laws protecting whistleblowers, including national security and on Wall Street. Sen. Grassley’s work on the Judiciary Committee exposed the illegal gun-trafficking operation known as Operation Fast and Furious. It was Sen. Grassley’s persistence that pressured the current administration to provide Congress with the legal rationale for using drones on American citizens.”

“Alongside that, Sen. Grassley’s one of only two working family farmers in the United States Senate, where he brings Iowa common sense to work for ag, anti-trust, transportation, environmental, energy, trade, health care, communications, national security, and tax policy that works for all of America,” the Grassley spokesperson concluded."

Braley Looks Like He Running for Mayor of Burlington

Watch the video of Bruce Braley denouncing Grassley as some kind of ignorant farmer. With all the liquor bottles by his side, it looks like Braley is running for Mayor Burlington.

Braley has the proper party affiliations to be Mayor of Burlington.

Parliament of Lawyers

“A farmer from Iowa who never went to law school, never practiced law, serving as the next chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee because if Democrats lose the majority, Chuck Grassley will be the next chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Braley said."

The former President of the Iowa Trial Lawyers wants to be your next U S Senator from Iowa. Bruce Braley seeks the seat by denouncing Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. Grassley will not be Braley's opponent in November.

Parliament of lawyers, or parliament of whores, is there any difference?

I've never seen a poorly dressed teacher in Burlington...

But We've Had Monument Builders for Superintendents

I went to the Burlington Schools and my children have as well. Now while I have seen a lot of things that I don't agree with personally, how our teachers dress is not one of them.

We are blessed to have some wonderful and caring teachers in our city, and alot of those have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on their work attire. Now along comes Jane Evans (who apparently has nothing more pressing to worry about), and she wants to institute a teachers dress code, and the school board is apparently considering it.

Really? Is this necessary? Do you have nothing better to do than to mess with the teachers Jane? Here, let me help you out a little ...

1. Get our schools safe again - discipline the children that need it, suspend or expel the ones that need it so the rest can learn and thrive. I hear more about large groups of fighting students and school violence that I ever have. And when you lose Mack Turner from BHS to a well earned retirement -- you better have a plan.

2. Get our schools funded. Teachers are footing the bill for most all supplies they need for their classrooms, including the basics. But they do get a $250 a year tax write off right?

3. Get our computer systems for the students updated. Last time I went to an open house, the computers were embarrassingly old, outdated, and in short supply. Teaching children to use these hardly prepares them for the future. Besides, unless they can print from them (which they cannot in most cases I am told) what good is having them?

4. Get some new textbooks for our classrooms. Most classrooms have severely antiquated materials.

You tried the dress code change for students and it blew up in your face (because it never needed changed .. just enforced - your job right?). Let's hope this dies too. And once its settled perhaps if our School Board cannot see this lack of direction and poorly placed resources for what they are, the results of a person who may be in the wrong job, maybe it's time to start thinking about replacing them instead.

Nothing infuriates me more than seeing somebody try and prove their worth by stepping on others and trying to conduct pointless witch hunts to deflect attention from themselves instead of doing the job they were hired to do.

The Empress and Her Entourage

"A “well-placed” staffer at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang hotel told the Daily Mail that the Obama women have inconvenienced “pretty much everyone” while the first lady’s mother, Marian Robinson, has been “barking at the staff” since she arrived."

It could be worse. The hotel staff are not being taxed for the tab. We are.

Flashback: Senator Obama pushed bill that helped destroy more than 15,000 TONS of ammunition, 400,000 small arms and 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles in Ukraine

It Wasn't George Bush Even Though He Was President -

"Obama traveled to Ukraine with Sen. Dick Lugar in 2005 just seven months after he became a senator, touring surplus weapons stockpiles

Most of the small arms and ammunition were left over when Soviets withdrew from Eastern bloc nations, and later dumped in Ukraine

The two senators secured U.S. funding to help destroy the weapons instead of leaving them intact

Ukraine exported more than 700,000 small arms in 2004-2007, including 101,000 each to Libya and the UK, and 260,000 to the U.S.

But most of the ammunition stockpiles – crucial for keeping a standing army battle-ready – were destroyed"

Study: Obama Most Well-Traveled, Expensive President In History Through Five Years

Moochelle's Trip to China a Disaster - Hotel Staff Fed Up With Obamas' Entourage Including Ol' Mom

"Citing a recent report in the Washington Examiner that found through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that taxpayers are on the hook for about $228,288 per Air Force One flight hour in 2013, a 27 percent increase from the previously confirmed cost of $179,750 per fight hour that NTUF used in its last study, the taxpayer watchdog concludes that Obama’s flights have cost taxpayers more than any other president.

“Taken on its own, the $48,535 jump may not sound all that significant,” NTUF added about the cost increase for Air Force One. “However, when trips are many thousands of miles and span several time zones and continents, the difference can quickly add up.”

NTUF estimates that Obama’s trip to Europe and the Middle East “will likely involve about 29 hours of total travel time, assuming a cruising speed of 575 mph between Washington, Amsterdam, Brussels, Rome, and Riyadh, and then back to D.C.” That amount, the group says, is going to cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

“Using the previous estimate, the total cost of flying Air Force One between those international cities would be about $5,212,750,” NTUF wrote. “Using the new data, the cost comes out to $6,620,352.”

Suffering the Infamous

"Senator Courtney stands by the voting rights of those stiff for lack of a beating heart. It stands to reason Senator Courtney will stand by infamous drunks."

"The legal battle over whether a second drunk driving offense bars someone from running for office in Iowa was waged before a three-member review panel Wednesday, with Iowa’s attorney general suggesting the voting rights of tens of thousands of Iowans could be at stake."

We have suffered drunks and fools as political leaders. If a decision is reached that second offense drunk driving is an "infamous crime," this could bode well for Burlington's future.

Removing infamous drunks from the equation still leaves fools. If infamous drunks are barred from voting, it will make it harder for fools to get elected.

A decision that second offense drunk driving is an infamous crime will not please our local single political party. That a Democrat primary is sparking the debate makes for marvelous irony.

"The attorney general’s office plans to alert the district court that an appeal is likely to be filed quickly by the side that loses in Friday’s decision. The senate seat directly in question is currently held by Jack Hatch, a Democrat who is running for governor."

That infamous drunks are entitled to suffrage and generating suffering will continue to be debated after the review panel issues its decision. If this issue ends up in the Iowa Legislature, where will our State Senator Courtney stand?

Senator Courtney stands by the voting rights of those stiff for lack of a beating heart. It stands to reason Senator Courtney will stand by infamous drunks.

Iowa Senate Decorum Detritus

Courtney's Like and Kind

"Rob Hogg had a busy Monday and Tuesday. Along with texting, cursing and screaming at the Capitol, the liberal state senator ushered liberal U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse around the state to push for climate change legislation."

Behavior most ill is spreading in the Iowa Senate.

State Senator Courtney screaming, "You piece of sh**," and now this. What first appeared this legislative session in Senator Courtney now has appeared in Senator Hogg.

Epidemiologists seek common connections. It is the first step in figuring out how to halt the spread of contagious diseases. Senators Hogg and Courtney share a common party caucus. They also share a delusional liberal world view.

Evidence indicates Courtneyitis is contagious. It is spreading in the Iowa Senate. It should be isolated before in infects Iowa's entire body politic.

Voters in Senator Courtney and Senator Hogg's respective districts should vote them out. Not only for the good of Iowa's legislative branch, but to allow those infected to regain a grasp on reality.

Senator Courtney's Increasingly Bizarre Behavior

"You piece of Sh**," State Senator Tom Courtney. That outburst took place on the floor of the Iowa Senate.

Reports from a recent local Eggs and Issues meeting make one wonder if Senator Courtney is loosing it. Senator Courtney was on a rant against home schooling. The essence of Senator Courtney's argument was home schooling promotes the sexual abuse of minors.

Fellow Democrat Iowa House Representatives member Dennis Cohoon was not buying Senator Courtney's one incident taints all argument. Republican State Representative Tom Sands called Senator Courtney on his faulty logic.

The exchanged between Sands and Cortney exhibited another Courtneyism. Senator Courtney would not let Representative Sands finish his sentence before interrupting.

Senator Courtney recently has been treating public issue debates as picket line shout downs. Senator Courtney's outbursts reflect badly not only on him, but we his constituents he claims to represent.

Senator Courtney should announce he is resigning from the senate when the Iowa Legislature adjourns this Spring.

The expense and bother of a special election would not be necessary. Both parties could recruit candidates. Voters would have time to study the candidates before deciding in November.

Senator Courtney does not necessarily need to come home. He just needs to get out the Iowa Legislature.

In old memo, a glimpse of conflict ahead for Hillary Clinton?

Criminal in Golf Shoes Exchanged for Criminal in Pantsuits?

White House Travel Office Scandal

"All seven travel office veterans appeared before Congress the day after the president praised his wife in the State of the Union address. Angry and tearful, they testified that the accusations by the Clinton White House had ruined them financially by forcing them to incur massive legal bills to clear their names.

Hillary Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall, said the decision not to charge her with lying was “entirely appropriate” but that it was "unfair and misleading" for Ray to say that her deposition was inaccurate."

White water Scandal

..."Hillary Clinton’s involvement stemmed from her role as investor and lawyer — and from the curious fate of key documents found mysteriously in the White House. Days before the State of the Union address, Hillary Clinton’s personal aide testified before the Senate Whitewater Committee that billing records from Hillary Clinton’s old law firm in Little Rock — records that had been subpoenaed two years before — had been found months earlier in the White House living quarters.

The sudden reappearance raised suspicions that the documents had been deliberately withheld from the committee. The area in which the documents were found was closed to most members of the White House staff and guarded by Secret Service agents. The documents were meant to establish whether Hillary Clinton had done minimal legal work for Madison Guaranty — as she had said — or played a more prominent role."

Missing in Burlington Found

"As for the mystery of the missing 16-foot long pipe, it has been found. Borden says it was buried in sand about 2 feet lower than the rest of the pipe.

Borden says it’s hard to know exactly what happened, but his best guess is that the missing section had been leaking for a long time and eventually became separated. At that point, the force of the rushing water pushed it further into the sand."

The missing water main under Flint Creek has been discovered. This bit of marine archeology failed to find other artifacts of interest.

The missing railroad lawsuit tapes, the lights from the former Flint Hills ball park and other municipal missing items are not mentioned.

Previous denizens of Burlington' City Hall legacy lame extends beyond mysterious disappearances. The bill for ignored infrastructure in the pursuit of idiocies is coming due.

Burlington Water Main M. I. A.

"Nothing’s official yet, but the man in charge of keeping Burlington’s water flowing says it appears that a 16-foot section of the “main” that went down two weekends ago is missing from it’s usual spot under Flint Creek."

Infrastructure necessary to maintain our community appears to be going the way of Burlington's productive citizens. Where have they gone?

With a declining population, especially of productive citizens, where will the money come from repair and replace Burlington's infrastructure?

Want A Story? What Happened to The Drunk Ex-Mayor's Buger King Sleepover?

Edwards' 3rd Strike DUI Should Have Been a Topic

I guess most people have forgotten our drunk, ex-mayor Mike Edwards, a Democrat, filed for bankruptcy TWICE, including once while he was on the city council.

Our police department let Edwards call his wife for a ride home after passing out drunk in the Burger King parking lot. Edwards also was convicted of at least two DUI's. And the newspaper never even bothered to go review the audio and video from Edwards' near miss with that 3rd strike DUI.

While we're talking about ex-mayors, what about Tim Scott taking a swing at a citizen in the auditorium parking lot?

Or the theft of property from the Des Moines County Historical Society sold to fund that boondoggle library?

In fact, has anyone that works at the Hawk-eye ever filed bankruptcy?

When little people play grown-up, they are still little people in little shoes.

Watch Where You Squat!

If I were Randy Miller I would consider changing his Saturday afternoon drinking habits. One of these days Miller will pop out of the Sombrero after 3-4 hours of drinking and stumble into a DUI roadblock.

And unlike Steve Delaney, this trip will be directly to jail.

Randy Miller Bites The Hand

It never ceases to amaze me how absolutely stupid Randy Miller continues to be. Monday's front page article takes the cake. He should be so proud of his recent crayon scribbles.

This is nothing more than a hit job to protect the liberals' continued taxpayer abuse and a shot to protect the overpaid city and county workers' health care plan.

Randy Miller doesn't have anything to do but follow the mantra for the Democrat Party that he values more than his neighbors. Miller's job is to protect the city and county workers' health care plan at all costs. After all, Miller's health care is paid for by his wife's job at the court house. This may not seem relevant at first glimpse but the health care plans for both city and county come from the same pot.

To top all of this off, Randy Miller in his myopic view of the real world fails to consider, as do Dale Alison and Steve Delaney, that for a number of years these jackasses have been paid by the ad revenue from the very people he now wants to castigate. Would Delaney be willing to take ad revenue if a new business was started by these same people?

My suggestion, advertisers should carefully consider spending any money with the newspaper. You never know when your money may be used to punish you.
