Liberal Maureen Dowd Eviscerates Obama's Failed Administration
"FORE! Score? And seven trillion rounds ago, our forecaddies brought forth on this continent a new playground, conceived by Robert Trent Jones, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal when it comes to spending as much time on the links as possible — even when it seems totally inappropriate, like moments after making a solemn statement condemning the grisly murder of a 40-year-old American journalist beheaded by ISIL.
I know reporters didn’t get a chance to ask questions, but I had to bounce. I had a 1 p.m. tee time at Vineyard Golf Club with Alonzo Mourning and a part-owner of the Boston Celtics. Hillary and I agreed when we partied with Vernon Jordan up here, hanging out with celebrities and rich folks is fun.
Now we are engaged in a great civil divide in Ferguson, which does not even have a golf course, and that’s why I had a “logistical” issue with going there. We are testing whether that community, or any community so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure when the nation’s leader wants nothing more than to sink a birdie putt."

Did Commie Huckster Tom Courtney Join His Ilk in Ferguson?
"The national media has been focused intently on the unrest going on in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri, this week, and some reports noted that two people were shot during the rioting over the weekend. However, during that same weekend 29 African Americans were wounded and 7 were killed in the all-too-common gang violence in Chicago.
Between Friday evening and Sunday night, seven were killed, most in the sort of gang violence often fueled by the drug trade controlled by the Mexican cartels. Twenty-nine were injured."

"Rick Perry thought her to be a disgrace, and wanted her to resign. She didn’t. So he took the next step and threatened to veto funding for her office. In response, a grand jury handed down an abuse of power indictment for coercive use of a veto late this afternoon. So the woman who was belligerent and intoxicated stays, Rick Perry is the bad guy and needs to go."

Courtney Denies Voting Problem in Iowa During Aspen Grove Hike
A man voting three times in Cedar Rapids is facing a felony rap. State Senator Courtney says we have no illegal voting problem in Iowa. If our honorable state senator says there is no problem, we should believe him.
Why then are the Auditor and Attorney of Linn County harassing this man? He was simply helping people exercise their right to vote.

Braley TV Ad Deemed False by Cedar Rapids Gazette
Liberal Democrat Ted Steyer's NextGen Falsely Claims Ernst would eliminate support for Iowa renewables
The Cedar Rapids MSLWM came as close to outwardly labeling the latest Bruce Braley ad a bold face lie as any MSLWM newspaper can.
Braley: "Signers of the pledge “oppose efforts to increase marginal income tax rates for individuals and businesses” and “oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”
Cedar Rapids Gazette: "The pledge doesn’t address subsidies.
Braley: "NextGen cites a December 2013 newspaper column by former Republican Speaker of the House Christopher Rants, of Sioux City, as the source for claiming Ernst would ‘eliminate support for Iowa renewables.’
However, in reading the column, Ernst never said that."
Cedar Rapids Gazette: "NextGen is entirely misleading...Her efforts run contrary to NextGen claims, which are misleading and taken out of context.
We rate NextGen’s claim as false."

The Halt, The Lame, The Jack Hatch for Governor Campaign
Sen. Jack Hatch's campaign to be governor limped into Burlington. Hatch has shot himself in the foot so many times he will be lucky to limp across the finish less than double digit percentage points behind Governor Branstad.
Sen. Hatch asked all kinds of people to be his running mate, but they turned him down. Did Sen. Courtney turn Hatch's offer down to be his running mate? Hatch finally found a running mate to go along on his suicide mission. Whatever Monica Vernon's claim to fame is, it can't be much.
Hatch should have been well received by Burlington's single political party of note. Hatch believes government knows best about everything.
Hatch believes in eminent domain abuse. If a developer wants your property and you refused to sell, government should take it from you and give to the developer. Hatch voted against reigning in eminent domain abuse back in 2006.
If you think Burlington's empty lot Manor Mall was a success, vote for Hatch. Just don't put any money on Hatch winning.
The city council's toy gun nonsense attracted attention to Burlington. An outside group so drawn in has issued a report as a result
"After settling the soundly defeated toy gun ordinance issue, it is now time for more good news!
The exciting journey to substantial Burlington City Hall performance improvement begins with a single step in the right direction - Awareness of the problem!!
Please consider the contents of this post as a $160,000 gift and as an inspiration to take that first, AWARENESS step.
The numbers in the following table show the level of awareness Iowalive networkers are talking about.
Now that you are aware of the problem, you will find the contents of website most interesting and useful.
Implement them effectively and you will reduce Burlington’s City Hall, 3 year waste from $60,328,128 to less than $55,000,000, in no more than 3 years. You will make good progress at more closely matching city pay to performance and results. And you will reduce city taxes by at least 1.5%--while improving city services by at least 3%!!
Is this Heaven? NO!! It’s Burlington Iowa, benefitting from AWARENESS!!
Stay tuned for a similar performance evaluation of the Burlington school district.

Pulp and Paywalls in Pieces
"The paywall revolution was supposed to put newspaper companies on a path to ramping reader revenue growth. But what we are seeing at Gannett (and at other companies) is that the first- and (sometimes) second-year impact of higher-priced all-access subscriptions is waning. Further pricing is constrained by too great a loss in print subscription volume. If that continues — and if regional newspaper companies either don’t produce niche paid products or believe those products won’t resonate with buyers — then the blush of reader revenue growth will have been a short one
It looks like news on pulp continues to be pulverized.
Pulp is suffering from the big prestigious dailies down to the read by few over the horizon dailies like the Ad Vertiser. Hiding behind a paywall is not paying off as promised.
Will the Ad Vertiser survive the coming of total digital?
