See Burlington and Get Mugged

Voters Keep Voting For Dumb and Dumber

"We heard yesterday(Tues) from three members of the Burlington City Council, about their views on adding another police officer to the force and how to pay for it."

Burlington's violent crime rate has been making news. Burlington's precarious financial situation is such that hiring an additional police officer is problematic. Most responsible for this lack of cash were not on the city council when our financial mess was created.

Tim Scott was on the council during those days of dreaming dumb. Tim Scott has the solution. Raise property taxes 4.4% to cover hiring another cop. Why are voters continually voting dumb?

Our local Convention and Visitors Bureau is likely to receive less from City Hall's trough. With Burlington's Crime rate abysmal and rising, they should get less, if anything. Who wants to come here to get mugged.

Hiring a forensic accounting team to research Burlington's City Hall's books during the days of wine and razing the Manor for a failed mall has been suggested. A forensic accounting investigation could be considered an investment in our city.

What if any statue of limitations are involved should be considered. Go for it while there is still time for an insurance claim and the County Attorney to file charges if crimes are uncovered.

Burlington should show the world it has learned from its mistakes and is making corrections. Only then will Burlington be an attractive place to visit again.

Priorities Skewed

"FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Thursday that he has not yet been contacted by the NFL about its investigation into underinflated footballs, adding: "I didn't alter the ball in any way."

A professional football team is under intense national scrutiny for ball fraud.

Where is the outrage over vote fraud? Citizens show a disturbing lack of balls when their vote is not up on the score board.

Touch down, State Senator Courtney.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s husband is about to make $1B off a government real estate deal

The $1 Billion - Commissions for Unneeded Post Offices They Can't Afford

"The US Postal Service plans to sell 56 buildings — so it can lease space more expensively — and the real estate company of the California senator’s husband, Richard Blum, is set to pocket about $1 billion in commissions.

...At this point, you may be wondering, wait. Can she do that? Is that, strictly speaking, legal?

Not to worry, citizens. She’s got that covered.

This feat of federal spousal support was ignored by the media after Feinstein’s office said the senator, whose wealth is pegged at $70 million, had nothing to do with the USPS decisions."

No problem here. Move along.

Burlington Forensic Audit Would Reap Millions

There is an extremely simple solution for Burlington's financial woes. Do a forensic audit.

Right before Doug Worden left office, every city hall computer in Doug Worden's reach was replaced and every computer hard drive was destroyed. And it wasn't just for security reasons.

When the forensic audit shows Worden's 'creative bookkeeping', a direct result of tutelage under Bruce Slagle's reign of criminal fiscal irresponsibility, the insurance company for the city's auditors will have to pay off. Big time. They perpetuated the cover-up.

Everyone says it is too expensive to do this. The taxpayers have paid millions for the Manor Mall debacle. If a $150,000 investment returned $10-$15 million in penalties and criminal indictments, that would be better than the return garnered in the railroad lawsuit....

The only problem is the city councilmen that let these two jackasses write their own performance reviews are still being re-elected to city hall. And you know how they like to cover their own dirt like bow-legged weasels.

A Difference of Method

"Yet another robbery to report in Burlington…this one at the corner of Washington and Shields around 10:15 Tuesday night."

Coercion to take what rightfully should not be yours comes in many forms.

Burlington is currently experiencing a crime wave. How long until an armed robbery results in a fatality? There is a safer, more efficient and financially rewarding method.

The perpetrators of our current crime wave should stay in school. They should develop their communication skills. A belt, or a pair of suspenders holding one's pants up are must. Appearance is everything when you take what is not rightfully yours legally.

Advancement by a different method follows a similar pattern. As with America's most wanted, the majority start out locally and advance.

Once you have new skills suitable to a new method, make your move.

Link up with a long established, socially acceptable group of like mind. Work with and for them. Develop skills in deception and leadership. Your efforts should be rewarded with a chance for advancement. You will become a big deal.

Your name in the local Ad Vertiser likely makes you feel important. You will get far more ink than just the police blotter. Front page fame will last longer than a violent felony trial and sentencing. You need not wait for probation to see your name there again.

If you advance beyond just Burlington, your name will appear on the front page of respected, award winning journals.

When your opportunity comes, your acceptable affiliation with like minded people will give you a huge edge in Burlington. Take the first step via the county court house steps. This time, being cuffed next to a public defender and law enforcement will not be the case. You are stepping up to make law.

Take out your nomination papers. Get your name on the ballot with Des Moines County's dominant political party. Odds are with your party's nomination you will be successful on your first attempt at advancement.

The new method still has risks. Never let your ambition extend beyond what you are capable of. Share your take with a comfortable majority. Keep at minimum 50% plus one deluded from the truth. You take more from the vast majority than you return to them.

Taxation in excess of legitimate public need is legal, but has its limits. Beware of excessive personal greed. Such greed could very well send you to prison.

The odds are astronomical of your drawing far worse than a former Illinois governor for a cell mate.

Al Sharpton Fumes At NYPD After Viagra Prescription Leaked to Press

Al's Viagra Prescription Found In Rape Suspect's Apartment

"The Reverend Al Sharpton lashed out at New York cops on Monday after they revealed to the New York Daily News that they found his Viagra prescription in the apartment of a lawyer friend recently cleared of rape charges. Sharpton claimed that he is “unembarrassable.”

According to the NYDN, when asked about the find, “a shocked Sharpton” initially feigned ignorance about the RX note for the sex pills.

“I don’t know anything about that, no, I don’t know anything about that,” Sharpton said, “after a speechless second.”

An Anthem Suitable for Liberals

"Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), a progressive champion on social programs whose legacy includes crafting the American Disabilities Act, had one last priority he wanted to address before he retired after 40 years in Congress.

He’s always wanted to change the national anthem."

An anthem to welfare would be more appropriate for Tom Harkin.

Not just Iowans, but all Americans should be thankfully 2014 marks the end of Tom Harkin being a member of the United States Senate.
